It's playoff time, and Berthoud had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the Valley Vikings on Friday as the Berthoud Spartans made off with a 60-38 win. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Leading Berthoud to victory were Sofia Sigg and Avery Pfohl. Sigg shot 54% from the field en route to 17 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals, while Pfohl went 6-for-11 on her way to 17 points along with seven boards and four steals. Sigg is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Harper, who posted six points and four steals.
Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Brianna Orona, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 12 points and six rebounds. That's the most points she has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Jimenez, who put up eight points along with ten boards and five assists.
Berthoud's record is now 14-10. As for Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 14-10.
Berthoud wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 59-39 loss against Timnath on the 8th. Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
