Baseball Game Preview: Scranton Prep Cavaliers vs. Pleasant Valley Bears

The Scranton Prep Cavaliers will head out on the road to challenge the Pleasant Valley Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Pleasant Valley took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Scranton Prep, who comes in off a win.

On Wednesday, Scranton Prep sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over West Scranton. That's two games straight that the Cavaliers have won by exactly two runs.

Johnny Petrosky made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Petrosky was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

In other batting news, AJ Croom was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Scranton Prep hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Pleasant Valley and Stroudsburg have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Saturday. The Bears took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountaineers. The Bears have struggled against the Mountaineers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

The victory made it two in a row for Scranton Prep and bumps their season record up to 5-11. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Pleasant Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.
