Basketball Recap: Stevenson Find Success

Stevenson proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 28) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. It was close, but they capped 2024 with a 57-54 victory over the Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets.

Several Yellow Jackets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zaraivion Crowe, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Crowe's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Yasias Green was another key player, going 5 for 12 on his way to 14 points and three steals.

Stevenson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Palo Verde Valley, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-9.

Stevenson will take on Moreno Valley in a tournament on Monday. As for Palo Verde Valley, they will head out to square off against Banning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Palo Verde Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season.
