Basketball Recap: Westland Hialeah Comes Up Short

Westland Hialeah and Monsignor Pace squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Westland Hialeah had to settle for second. They came up short against the Monsignor Pace Spartans, falling 73-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since December 30, 2024.

It was another big night for Easton Gelin, who dropped a double-double on 37 points and ten rebounds for Monsignor Pace. Gelin continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamaal Gibson, Jr, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards.

Westland Hialeah is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-13. As for Monsignor Pace, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-20.

Westland Hialeah does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Monsignor Pace, they will square off against Carol City on Wednesday. One thing working in Monsignor Pace's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches.
