Manvel had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 70-35 victory over the Fort Bend Hightower Hurricanes. The Mavericks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 31 points or more this season.

Manvel's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cam Renfro, who threw for 176 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 100 yards on only nine carries. Renfro's passing game has become a key predictor of the Mavericks' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. Dante Mayes was in the mix too, providing Manvel with three TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Manvel was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 446 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 187 rushing yards in six consecutive contests.

Fort Bend Hightower lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Khylan Davis, who rushed for 159 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries, and also threw for 173 yards and one touchdown. Kentrell Mosley was Davis' top target, picking up 28 receiving yards and one TD, while also rushing for 81 yards and one score.

Manvel's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points over those games. As for Fort Bend Hightower, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.

Manvel has already played their next matchup, a 72-35 defeat against Summer Creek on the 21st. Fort Bend Hightower does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
