Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only West Marion walked away with it. They never let the McLaurin Tigers get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Izzy Pittman was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caydance Brumfield, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Baylee Parrett was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

The win was the third in a row for West Marion, bringing their record up to 21-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for McLaurin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

West Marion will square off against Wesson at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 2.4, the Cobras 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. McLaurin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
