Basketball Recap: Hellgate Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Hellgate ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 76-74 victory over the Butte Bulldogs. The Knights' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Hellgate's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Easton Sant, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 15 points in addition to eight assists and three steals. That's the most assists Sant has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Zane Gillhouse, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards.

Sant wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Hellgate was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Hellgate pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points per game. As for Butte, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2.

Hellgate will square off against Big Sky at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Butte, they will challenge Sentinel at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
