Lake Catholic came tearing into Saturday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Walsh Jesuit Warriors. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since April 30th.

Frankie Trinetti looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, A.J. Trobenter was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Pete Malchesky, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Lake Catholic pushed their record up to 22-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Walsh Jesuit, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 15-7-1 record.

The Cougars (ranked 40th) will meet Girard (ranked 278th) at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Walsh Jesuit will square off against Stow-Munroe Falls at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (17 vs. 188).
