Baseball Recap: Green County Snags Sixth Victory in Last Seven Games

Green County won the last time they faced Fort Knox and things went their way on Friday too. The Dragons were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Eagles. Considering the Dragons have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Caleb Corbin, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. He has become a key player for Green County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Drew Squires, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Green County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Green County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Knox, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Green County has already played their next match (against Campbellsville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Fort Knox, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-6 victory against Burgin on the 21st.
