The Robinson Knights will challenge the McKeel Academy Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Robinson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Jefferson 5-4. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Samuel Hyman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Robinson's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 10-12 when he doesn't).
In other pitching news, Nathan Porath tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
Hyman wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cason Cooper, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most hits Cooper has posted since back in March. Tommy Fitzgerald was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when McKeel Academy faced off against King on Tuesday. The Wildcats skirted past the Lions 4-2.
Like Robinson, McKeel Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Kaden Howell. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Howell was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Cooper Hamilton looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Brock Spurgeon, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
McKeel Academy is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Robinson, their record is now 12-13.
Robinson came up short against McKeel Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 5-0. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
