The St. Ignatius College Preparatory Wildcats will challenge the Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory Fightin' Irish at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
St. Ignatius College Preparatory is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Menlo School 42-6. The win was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won four games in a row.

Caedon Afsharipour had a dynamite game, throwing for 181 yards and five touchdowns while completing 86.7% of his passes. Those five passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Zui Shelton was in the mix too, providing St. Ignatius College Preparatory with two scores.

Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since September 26th (when they won 71-14). They really took it to Santa Teresa for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-27 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-13.
St. Ignatius College Preparatory better keep an eye on Michael Sargent. He was instrumental in Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory's win, throwing for 361 yards and four TDs while completing 77.3% of his passes, and also punching in a pair of touchdowns on the ground. Sargent has become a key player for the Fightin' Irish: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 4-5 otherwise. Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory's leading receiver Chase Jenkins was Sargent's top target yet again, picking up 155 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 243 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 151 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Mattie Barden, Elliot Beach, and Tristin Forks, who each picked up one sack apiece.
The win got Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory back to even at 6-6. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, the victory also got them back to even at 6-6.
St. Ignatius College Preparatory was able to grind out a solid win over Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory in their previous matchup on November 7th, winning 23-14. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Fightin' Irish have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
