Baseball Recap: James Lick Comets vs. Gunderson Grizzlies
James Lick extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-12 in the process. They lost 16-4 to the Gunderson Grizzlies. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Grizzlies this season, with their most recent defeat being a 8-2 loss back in April.
Juan Ecsoto made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in both of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.
As for Gunderson, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. Considering they have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Gunderson's side, Brian Uribe was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Uribe a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny Estrada, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. James Lick will challenge Mt. Pleasant at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Comets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season. As for Gunderson, they will square off against Harker at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
