Softball Recap: South Medford Gets the Win

South Medford got themselves on the board against Willamette on Monday, but Willamette never followed suit. They came out on top against the Wolverines by a score of 5-0. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Jordan Knutson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

In other batting news, Dannika Ostvik was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Aubree Joe, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

South Medford hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

South Medford's record now sits at 12-7. As for Willamette, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: South Medford beat Willamette by a score of 10-4 later that day.
