The Wilcox Chargers will square off against the Los Gatos Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Los Gatos will be up against a hot Wilcox squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Chargers claimed a resounding 42-13 win over Palo Alto. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Chargers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Vikings are ranked 522nd).
Kai Imahara was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 121 yards on only five carries, and also threw for 143 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes. His longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Another player making a difference was Gilbert Padilla, who rushed for 75 yards and two TDs on only six carries.
Wilcox's run defense was locked in: Palo Alto could only muster 0.5 yards per carry. While six picked up at least one total tackle, Padilla stood above the rest. He rushed for 75 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries. Wilcox didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.7.

Wilcox didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Elijah Vallejo and Isiaiah Arevalos. Wilcox is undefeated when Arevalos posts one or more interceptions, but 1-2 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Los Gatos never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Sacred Heart Prep 47-0. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Los Gatos' win came from a few key players Wilcox will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Devonte Troutt, who rushed for 57 yards and two touchdowns. Callum Schweitzer was another key player, throwing for 151 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 90% of his passes.
The win got Los Gatos back to even at 3-3. As for Wilcox, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Wilcox has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 232.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Los Gatos struggles in that department as they've been averaging 182.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Wilcox didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Los Gatos in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, but they still walked away with a 19-14 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Wildcats' Scotty Brennan, who threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 37 yards. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Chargers to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
