O'Gorman (Sioux Falls, S.D.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 10 in South Dakota, but was stunned by
Riggs (Pierre, S.D.), 16-14. Riggs was ranked at No. 12 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for South Dakota coming into the week.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Alexander Gray to
Austin Christopherson in the first quarter, the Governors led 10-0 at the half.
Riggs saw its 10-point halftime lead decrease to eight entering the fourth.
RHS was ahead by as much as 16 before the Knights pulled closer.
The defeat comes as a step back for O'Gorman, which notched a 28-10 victory over Washington in its previous outing. The win brought Riggs' winning streak to four games.
