Football Recap: Brewster Bears vs. Rye Garnets
Brewster had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 5-4 to make it four. They came up short against the Rye Garnets, falling 44-19. If the Bears were looking for revenge after losing 34-14 to the Garnets when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Brewster's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Prohaszka, who threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes. Beckett Grutzner also helped with two TDs in total.
As for Rye, the win keeps them at an undefeated 9-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 25.6 points thus far.
Rye got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Carson Miller out in front who threw for 268 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also rushed for 56 yards and one score on only five carries.
