Baseball Game Preview: St. Andrew's Highlanders vs. Texans Baseball Homeschool Texans

The St. Andrew's Highlanders will square off against the Texans Baseball Homeschool Texans at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While St. Andrew's didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over Hill Country Christian School of Austin on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Texans Baseball Homeschool). They put the hurt on Texas Wind with a sharp 24-2 win two weeks ago. Winning may never get old, but the Texans sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Mannix Segovia was a standout: he scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Texans Baseball Homeschool: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ethan Scesa, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Texans Baseball Homeschool always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Texas Wind only posted an OBP of .333.

St. Andrew's has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. Texans Baseball Homeschool's win bumped their record up to 6-4.

St. Andrew's skirted past Texans Baseball Homeschool 4-3 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will St. Andrew's repeat their success, or does Texans Baseball Homeschool has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
