Coeur d'Alene senior is two-time honoree after returning from broken hand to lead Vikings to 11th state title.
Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep girls basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Teagan Colvin of
Coeur d'Alene is the 2023-24 Idaho MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 5-foot-7 senior point guard earns the honor for the second straight year after leading the Vikings to a 20-5 record and Class 5A state championship.
Colvin averaged 17.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. She played in 20 of her team's 25 contests after missing several weeks with a fracture in her shooting hand.

In three postseason contests, Colvin averaged 27 points per game while shooting 55 percent from the field and 42 percent from the 3-point line. Her heroics helped Coeur d'Alene win its 11th state title, which matches the state record.
Committed to UNLV, Colvin scored 25 points – including 15 in the fourth quarter – in a 57-49 win over over rival Lake City (Coeur d'Alene) in the state championship victory.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 11. Past selections include 2023 WNBA Most Valuable Player Breanna Stewart (2012) as well as 2023 All-WNBA first team picks Napheesa Collier (2015), Alyssa Thomas (2010) and A'ja Wilson (2014).
