Softball Game Preview: Tahquitz Titans vs. Hillcrest Trojans

Tahquitz is 1-8 against Hillcrest since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Titans will host the Trojans at 3:15 p.m. Tahquitz will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

On Wednesday, Tahquitz made easy work of West Valley and carried off a 20-5 win. Considering the Titans have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Tahquitz got a massive performance out of Jade Reyes, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Reyes has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Vanessa Garcia, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Hillcrest fell victim to Arlington and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions.

Ashley James was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

Hillcrest has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Tahquitz, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
