Baseball Recap: Army-Navy Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Army-Navy lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Guajome Park Academy, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Warriors' pitchers stepped up to hand the Frogs an 11-0 shutout on Friday. Considering the Warriors' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Jacob Hester was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over 5.1 innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Army-Navy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-12 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Ashton Little was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Army-Navy is undefeated when Little posts two or more runs, but 2-13 otherwise. Chun-Hsiang Chang was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Army-Navy's win ended an eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13. As for Guajome Park Academy, they dropped their record down to 3-13 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coincidentally, Army-Navy and Guajome Park Academy will both be playing Rock Academy the next time they take the field. The Frogs will head out to face the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Warriors will host them at 4:00 p.m. on May 7.
