Baseball Game Preview: Phoenix Pirates vs. Klamath Union Pelicans

The Phoenix Pirates will face off against the Klamath Union Pelicans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Friday, Phoenix came up short against Hidden Valley and fell 4-1. The Pirates have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Klamath Union hadn't done well against Mazama recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Pelicans came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 8-5. While the Pelicans didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Nathan Ferns was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Everett, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Klamath Union is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Phoenix, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Phoenix couldn't quite get it done against Klamath Union in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-5. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
