Baseball Game Preview: Central Red Devils vs. Brookstone Cougars

The Central Red Devils will square off against the Brookstone Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

On Saturday, Central got the win against Rehobeth by a conclusive 8-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Devils.

Meanwhile, Brookstone came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Eagles 11-1. Considering the Cougars have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Luke Vael tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits.

On the hitting side, Brennan Neal and Luke Lowery did most of the damage at the plate: Neal scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3, while Lowery scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Neal is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Harrison Baker was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Brookstone's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.
