Baseball Recap: Reynolds Takes a Loss

Reynolds had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 1-9 to make it 11. They lost 14-2 to the Sharpsville Blue Devils. If the Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 11-2 to the Blue Devils when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Sharpsville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-7. The contest marked their most dominant win of the season so far.

For Sharpsville's part, Travis Wilding made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Wilding has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Jared Bissell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ben Lucas, who earned one RBI and three runs.

Coming up, Reynolds will face off against Rocky Grove at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Orioles have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Sharpsville, they are taking a road trip to square off against Cambridge Springs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
