Kearns falls despite strong effort from Adhau Chol

The Kearns Cougars suffered their closest defeat since November 30, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Cyprus by a score of 50-47. Kearns has not had much luck with Cyprus recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Kearns lost, one person who can't be blamed is Adhau Chol. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with eight blocks and six rebounds. Chol is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kylee Glade, who scored ten points along with two steals.

Cyprus' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amelia Echternkamp, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Echternkamp hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tamila Francis, who scored six points along with five steals.

Kearns now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Cyprus, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kearns will face off against Hunter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Hunter is ranked 77th, while Kearns is ranked 87th). As for Cyprus, they will head out on the road to square off against Granger at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Granger is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home.
