Basketball Recap: Burlington Takes a Loss

Burlington suffered their biggest defeat since December 13, 2024 on Friday. They lost 52-31 to Sedgwick County. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Sedgwick County this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-51 two weeks ago.

Despite the loss, Burlington still got an impressive performance from Kiyarra Williams, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds. That was a full 74.2% of Burlington's points, marking the fourth time in a row Williams has posted more than a third of the team's points.

Sedgwick County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abigail Dille, who went 5-for-10 on her way to 19 points. Dille's big performance that evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lainee Nein, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 14 boards.

Burlington's loss dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Sedgwick County, the win was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-3.

Burlington didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-30 victory against Byers on the 1st. As for Sedgwick County, they have also already played their next matchup, a 45-41 defeat against Merino on the 1st.
