Basketball Recap: St. Stephens' Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

St. Stephens had won four straight games and Jachavis Sherrill did his part to make it five on Tuesday. The Indians walked away with a 54-45 win over the West Iredell Warriors for which the team can thank Sherrill, who went 8-for-11 on his way to 25 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last nine games he's played dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, West Iredell still got an impressive performance from Austin Bailey, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 17 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Phil Maxey, who posted eight points and seven boards.

St. Stephens' victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for West Iredell, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Stephens will venture away from home to face off against Draughn at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Iredell, they will head out to take on West Wilkes at 7:00 p.m. on the 4th.
