Football Recap: Jefferson Comes Up Short

Jefferson and Brother Rice squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Jefferson had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Crusaders, falling 57-0. While losing is never fun, the J-Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 191st, while the Crusaders are ranked third).

Leading Brother Rice to victory were CJ Gray and Jameson Davis. Gray threw for 124 yards and three TDs, while Davis rushed for 99 yards and one touchdown on only five carries. Lucas Strang was Gray's top target, picking up 17 receiving yards and one score, while also punching in one touchdown on the ground.

The loss snapped Jefferson's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-5 record. As for Brother Rice, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Brother Rice, they will face off against Jacobs at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Crusaders' defense better be ready for this one: the Golden Eagles have averaged an impressive 33.2 points per game this season.
