Baseball Recap: Orange Lutheran Drops Highest Score of Season Against Mater Dei

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Orange Lutheran). They blew past the Mater Dei Monarchs 16-0 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now won five in a row.

Colt Peterson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Hanoian, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Murrietta, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, one double, and one RBI.

Orange Lutheran kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.

Orange Lutheran's record is now 20-5. As for Mater Dei, they dropped their record down to 13-12 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Orange Lutheran will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Monarchs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
