Baseball Recap: Oasis' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Oasis can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Cape Coral Seahawks 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Sharks have posted since April 30, 2024.

Tanner Goff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Oasis' victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Noah Pinney, who went 1-for-4 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Pinney hit this season. Another was Sean Osborn, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Oasis' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Cape Coral, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Oasis and Cape Coral could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Oasis will square off against First Baptist Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday down 266 places (529 vs. 263). Oasis has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. Meanwhile, Cape Coral (ranked 442nd) will meet Bonita Springs (ranked 103rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
