Baseball Game Preview: East Lee County Jaguars vs. Babcock Trailblazers

The East Lee County Jaguars will face off against the Babcock Trailblazers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

East Lee County will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Everglades City on Tuesday. East Lee County blew past Everglades City 48-5.

Meanwhile, everything went Babcock's way against Sarasota Military Academy on Tuesday as Babcock made off with a 15-3 win.

Anthony Brand made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Brand was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Paxton Cooper was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Cooper is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stolen at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Carter Flavelle, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Babcock's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for East Lee County, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
