Smithville is a perfect 3-0 against Central Christian since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Smithies are taking a road trip to take on the Comets at 1:00 p.m. Smithville is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Things were looking good for Smithville after they put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Dalton, falling 12-6.

Caitlin Walsh-Knouff was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. Morgan Shutt was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Central Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over Aquinas.

Micah Kozel Steiner made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Kozel Steiner was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Edisa Plants was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Adeline Aubrey, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Central Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aquinas only posted a batting average of .200.

Smithville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Central Christian, their record now sits at 1-0.
