Baseball Recap: The First Academy Triumphs + How To Watch

While The First Academy's win against West Orange wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Royals sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 victory over the Warriors on Thursday. The Royals haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Ryon Smith looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kinon Bastain, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Comas, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

The First Academy's record is now 16-9. As for West Orange, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 16-9.

Looking ahead, The First Academy will take on Foundation Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Orange does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
