Volleyball Game Preview: Minnechaug Regional Falcons vs. Frontier Regional Red Hawks

Minnechaug Regional is 2-8 against Frontier Regional since September of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Falcons will be playing at home against the Red Hawks at 5:30 p.m.

Minnechaug Regional is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Massachusetts' top teams: Longmeadow, who was ranked first at the time (Minnechaug Regional was ranked 11th). The Falcons took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lancers on Wednesday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since October 2, 2024, but that streak is no more.

The final score came out to 25-17, 15-25, 25-20, 25-18.

Meanwhile, Frontier Regional can bid farewell to their three-match losing streak thanks to their match on Thursday. They came out on top against East Longmeadow by a score of 3-1.

Frontier Regional was especially dominant in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 19-25, 25-23, 25-12.

Frontier Regional found their leader in sophomore Kaelyn Johnston, who had 15 digs and two aces. Raine Wonsey also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Frontier Regional was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Frontier Regional's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Minnechaug Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 11-2.

Minnechaug Regional took their win against Frontier Regional in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
