Football Game Preview: Shawnee Renegades vs. Pennsauken Indians

The Shawnee Renegades will take on the Pennsauken Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Shawnee's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Hammonton as they made off with a 21-0 victory. The win was nothing new for the Renegades as they're now sitting on three straight.

Shawnee found their leader in sophomore Cole Anderson, who rushed for 158 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Those 158 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Anderson.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pennsauken). They took their contest on Thursday with ease, bagging a 40-6 victory over Clearview. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Indians' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 59th, while the Pioneers are ranked 287th).

Pennsauken's win came from a few key players Shawnee will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Randall Blount, who rushed for 132 yards and two scores on only five carries. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 78-yard run. Elias Pagan was in the mix too, providing Pennsauken with two TDs.

Shawnee's record is now 6-3. As for Pennsauken, their record now sits at 7-2.

Thursday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Shawnee has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 192.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pennsauken struggles in that department as they've been averaging 166.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Shawnee took their win against Pennsauken when the teams last played on October 10th by a conclusive 36-14 score. Will the Renegades repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
