Baseball Game Preview: Dundee Vikings vs. Onsted Wildcats

For the second straight game, Dundee will face off against Onsted. The Vikings will venture away from home to challenge the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dundee has three straight wins, Onsted has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Dundee's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Onsted 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since April 24th.

The result came thanks to Cam Fairchild's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Dundee is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 7-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Dundee secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Ryan Zanger, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Dundee's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-10. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Onsted, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8-1.
