Russell hasn't had much luck against Thomas More Prep-Marian recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Russell Broncos will square off against the Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs at 2:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Russell is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They strolled past Ellis with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 64-47.

Russell's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Norah Mooney, who went 8 for 13 en route to 21 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Mooney has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Kelvie Reeves was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten assists.

Mooney wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Russell was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Thomas More Prep-Marian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Norton by a score of 36-29 on Thursday.

Thomas More Prep-Marian pushed their record up to 5-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Russell, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.

Russell came up short against Thomas More Prep-Marian in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 49-36. Can Russell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
