Basketball Game Preview: Sabine Cardinals vs. Jefferson Bulldogs

The Sabine Cardinals will take on the Jefferson Bulldogs at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Sabine saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a hard 74-55 fall against Shelbyville. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 685th, while the Dragons are ranked 205th).

Meanwhile, Jefferson had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 44.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 63-54.

Sabine has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Jefferson, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Sabine didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Jefferson in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 48-43 victory.
