Softball Preview: Wallington Panthers vs. Emerson Cavaliers

The Wallington Panthers are on the road again on Tuesday to play the Emerson Cavaliers. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Wallington is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They beat Mountain Lakes by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 10-0.

Meanwhile, Emerson entered their tilt with Paterson Charter School for Science and Technology with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lions a 14-0 shutout on Friday.

Sophia Centeno was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out ten over 4.2 innings pitched. Centeno was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI and a double.

In other batting news, Joanna Vigna was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Alyssa Gabriele was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
