Baseball Game Preview: Windham Whippets vs. Plainfield Panthers

Windham is 0-10 against Plainfield since May of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Whippets are taking a road trip to face off against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Windham has given up an average of 12.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Windham is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Monday. They lost 12-0 to Griswold.

Windham saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Francisco Alvarado, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Lyman Memorial hit Plainfield with a four-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers fell 8-5 to the Bulldogs. The Panthers have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Tony Navan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Pheonix Thompson was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Windham's record is now 1-5. As for Plainfield, their record now sits at 2-6.

Windham suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Plainfield in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Whippets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
