Softball Recap: Pleasant Hill Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Pleasant Hill got themselves on the board against West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] on Monday, but West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 16-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won five in a row.

Ava Wombles made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kaitlyn Borrowman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Makenna Winchell was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Pleasant Hill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] only managed five hits.

Pleasant Hill pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs], they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Looking ahead, Pleasant Hill will head out to square off against Edwardsville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs], they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brown County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
