While Christ Presbyterian Academy's win against Pope John Paul II wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lions narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Knights 16-14. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Leah Robinson, who went 4-for-6 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Audrey Townsend was another key player, going 3-for-6 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Christ Presbyterian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Brentwood nor Nolensville made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Bruins' pitcher stepped up to hand the Knights a 3-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Bruins sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
The result came thanks to Marina Mason's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 18 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Brentwood saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Black, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Christ Presbyterian Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Brentwood, their record is now 14-4.
