Baseball Game Preview: Mainland Buccaneers vs. Matanzas Pirates

Mainland is on a five-game streak of home losses, and Matanzas a 14-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Mainland Buccaneers will welcome the Matanzas Pirates at 4:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Mainland managed to slip by University the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Buccaneers lost 14-0 to the Titans on Friday.

Father Lopez hit Matanzas with a eight-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pirates came up short against the Green Wave, falling 12-2.

Matanzas saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paul Trettner, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Mainland's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Matanzas, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.

Mainland came out on top in a nail-biter against Matanzas in their previous matchup back in February, sneaking past 8-7. Do the Buccaneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
