Preview: Santa Monica Vikings vs. Troy Warriors
Santa Monica has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Troy Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Santa Monica rose to the challenge on Friday. They secured a 33-27 W over Santa Ana.
Santa Monica's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caden Mccallum led the charge by rushing for 135 yards and three touchdowns. Mccallum was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. Wyatt Brown had a good game as well, finishing with 278 passing yards and two touchdowns in total.
Meanwhile, Troy earned a 41-28 win over Monrovia on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Troy.
Ethan Mundt was a one-man wrecking crew for Troy as he rushed for 181 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Declan Kai healey, who gained 89 total yards and two touchdowns.
Santa Monica's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Troy, they pushed their record up to 7-4 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
