Softball Recap: Emmaus Extends Home Winning Streak to 18

Emmaus entered their tilt with Spring-Ford on Thursday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They never let the Rams get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Hornets also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

The result came thanks to Mari Eiswerth's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Emmaus let Sadie Haefeli and Abigail Derr run wild. Haefeli went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double, while Derr went 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits Derr has posted since back in April of 2024. Sydney Bennett was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two runs.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Emmaus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 12 consecutive contests.

Emmaus' victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Spring-Ford, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-4.

Emmaus and Spring-Ford should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Hornets (ranked 33rd) will meet Whitehall (ranked 132nd) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Emmaus 2.4, the Zephyrs 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Spring-Ford will square off against Pottsgrove at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (25 vs. 419).
