Baseball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

If Independence was riding high fresh off their 17-2 takedown of Varnado last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Independence Tigers took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Liberty Magnet Patriots on Friday.

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Liberty Magnet, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Independence will challenge St. Helena College and Career Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Liberty Magnet, they will take on East Iberville at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. East Iberville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
