Softball Game Preview: Cypress Centurions vs. Esperanza Aztecs

The Cypress Centurions will head out to square off against the Esperanza Aztecs at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Cypress has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Tuesday, Cypress didn't have quite enough to beat Canyon and fell 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Centurions have lost by just one run.

Delaney 'D.J.' Faus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sadie Sievers was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in February.

Meanwhile, Esperanza fell victim to El Modena and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 11-0 to the Vanguards. The Aztecs just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 3-8. As for Cypress, the loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 10-5.

Cypress took their win against Esperanza in their previous matchup back in March of 2018 by a conclusive 11-4. Will Cypress repeat their success, or does Esperanza has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
