Basketball Recap: Wootton Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Brenden Famulare and Chase Mitchell

Wootton was the 73-66 winner over Richard Montgomery when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Wootton Patriots fell just short of the Richard Montgomery Rockets by a score of 57-54 on Tuesday.

Despite the defeat, Wootton had strong showings from Chase Mitchell, who posted 22 points and five assists, and Brenden Famulare, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 15 points along with seven boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Famulare a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Waldron, who put up four points in addition to six boards and three blocks.

Wootton's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Richard Montgomery, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Wootton will take on Clarksburg at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Richard Montgomery, they will challenge Gaithersburg on Friday. Richard Montgomery has insisted on making their lastfive contests (dating back to last season) complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 3-2 during that stretch of close contests.
