Softball Recap: Alamogordo Falls Short Against Ranked Mayfield

Alamogordo faced Mayfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Tigers fell 5-2 to the Trojans. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Alamogordo has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Mayfield, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 13-4 record.

While Alamogordo had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
