Basketball Game Preview: Capital Jaguars vs. La Cueva Bears

The Capital Jaguars will take on the La Cueva Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Thursday, Capital took a blow against Sandia, falling 101-50. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while the Matadors are ranked third).

Meanwhile, La Cueva waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They secured an 80-74 W over the Matadors. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Bears were down 42-27 in the second quarter.

La Cueva has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.7 points per game. As for Capital, they dropped their record down to 7-11 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Everything went Capital's way against La Cueva in their previous matchup back in January of 2016, as Capital made off with a 57-37 win. Will Capital repeat their success, or does La Cueva have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
