The Northview Chiefs will challenge the Blountstown Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Northview has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Blountstown will arrive with seven straight victories.
On Friday, Northview came up short against Jay and fell 28-20. While the Chiefs had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Royals 14-7.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Blountstown). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Dixie County 74-0. Fans of the Tigers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
Blountstown's win came from a few key players Northview will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kayin Martin, who rushed for 82 yards and one touchdown. His longest rush was for an incredible 82 yards. Jaylen Jones was another key player, throwing for 61 yards and a pair of TDs.
Blountstown was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 301 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 195 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Blountstown didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Bowen Barber led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.
Blountstown's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Northview, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Northview has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 186.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Blountstown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 302.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Northview took a serious blow against Blountstown in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 38-0. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Tigers' Curtis Ellis, who rushed for 166 yards and two scores on only six carries. Now that the Chiefs know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
